Pardons after sentences
Benjamin Delo, Arthur Hayes, and Samuel Reed have received full pardons from Trump after pleading guilty in 2022 to violating the Bank Secrecy Act by failing to implement adequate anti-money laundering and customer due diligence programs between 2015 and 2020. In addition, former BitMEX employee Gregory Dwyer and the exchange’s parent company have also received unconditional pardons, BitMEX confirmed in a letter to Reuters.
Context and broader actions
Prosecutors have previously accused BitMEX and its founders of knowingly ignoring anti-money laundering regulations, resulting in fines and probation sentences.
