In March, the NBU sold $2.5 billion worth of currency, while purchases amounted to only $10 million in the first week of the month, and after that the regulator stopped buying currency altogether.
This policy is connected with the NBU’s attempts to stabilize the hryvnia exchange rate and has been going on for several months now – the sale of currency significantly exceeds the purchase.
Official hryvnia exchange rate in March
The national currency has strengthened against the US dollar by 3 kopecks since the beginning of March.
