Last year, a bill was registered to move International Women's Day on March 8 to Ukrainian Women's Day on February 25 (Lesya Ukrainka's birthday). The Rakuten Viber team asked when users plan to celebrate and whether they expect greetings.

The survey results showed that 59% of Ukrainians will continue to celebrate March 8th. 6% celebrate both International Women’s Day and Ukrainian Women’s Day (February 25). Another 5% celebrated only February 25th. In addition, about a third (30%) will not celebrate any of the dates this year.
When asked “When are you planning to celebrate this year?” the answers were distributed as follows:
- I will continue to celebrate March 8 – 59%; I don’t celebrate at all – 30%; I celebrate on both dates. The more holidays, the better – 6%; Celebrated on February 25, although the holiday was not approved – 5%.
Do women expect congratulations on March 8
The Rakuten Viber team separately asked Ukrainian women whether they expect congratulations on International Women’s Day.
About half of women do not expect gifts: 24% do not expect them from anyone, 14% expect only verbal congratulations and messages. In addition, 13% answered that the best congratulation is a donation.
At the same time, 34% of Ukrainian women expect gifts from their loved ones, another 15% – both from loved ones and at work/university/school .

- Yes, I expect gifts, but only from those closest to me – 34%; No, I don’t expect it from anyone – 24%; Yes, I expect gifts from loved ones and at work/university/school – 15%; I expect only verbal congratulations and messages – 14%; No, now the best congratulation is a donation – 13%.
Survey
More than 60 thousand users took part in an anonymous survey in the official Rakuten Viber Ukraine channel. The key age group is 34−45 years old, more than 50% of respondents are under 45.
