NATO Secretary General is confident that Alliance allies will agree on a long-term agreement on financing Ukraine before July, although some countries this week expressed doubts about this.

“Even if we believe and hope that the war will end in the near future, we must support Ukraine for many years, build its defenses to deter future aggression,” Stoltenberg said.

According to him, military support is vital to push Russian troops out of Ukraine and force Russian leader Putin to abandon his goals of occupying it.

Stoltenberg reportedly said that allies must provide support for Ukraine in the long term amid discussions of a €100 billion fund proposal. Subsequently, he clarified that discussions on the creation of a new multi-year fund to support Ukraine are ongoing and are taking place jointly with the Ukrainian side.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine supports the proposal of the NATO Secretary General, but “in the current financial model” its implementation is unlikely.
