The volume of cash foreign currency that banks imported into Ukraine in January 2024 amounted to $1.864 billion. This is the maximum volume since February 2014 ($3.208 billion). This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with a link to NBU data.

At the same time, banks imported $1.623 billion and $235 million in euro equivalent in January.
According to the NBU, in January, currencies worth $69 million were exported from Ukraine.
Demand for currency
The population of Ukraine bought $1.103 billion from banks in January 2024 — a record volume of foreign currency for 11 years.
Note that foreign currency remains the main form of savings for Ukrainians. The National Bank of Ukraine reported an increase in the volume of cash currency outside banks in 2023 by $11.8 billion. This volume includes cash currency of both the population and businesses.
