Cyprus extended temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees

Cyprus has extended until March 4, 2025 temporary protection for persons already having such status. This was reported by the Cyprus Refugee Service.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs all interested parties that, based on the relevant resolution of the Council of Ministers, the right to temporary protection is automatically extended for one year for those who have already acquired such status in Cyprus, i.e. up to 4 March 2025,” the message says.

The Cyprus Refugee Service clarified that persons who have already received temporary protection do not need to submit new applications or obtain a new biometric residence permit.

Persons wishing to receive temporary protection for the first time must submit an application electronically via this link or in person at the head office of the Refugee Service in Nicosia.

“Ministry of Finance” wrote that as of December 31, 2023, 4.31 million citizens who left Ukraine as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022 had temporary protected status in Europe.
