NBU prohibits pawnshops from accepting drones and thermal imagers as collateral

The National Bank of Ukraine has prohibited banks and non-banking financial institutions from accepting drones, thermal imagers and other dual-use goods as collateral for personal loans. This was reported by the regulator's press service.

The ban was introduced in pursuance of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated April 20, 2024 “On countering the negative consequences of gambling on the Internet”, put into effect by Decree of the President of Ukraine dated April 20, 2024 No. 234/2024.

The ban will be introduced from tomorrow, May 4.

The list of dual-use goods, in particular, includes: unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), night vision devices, thermal imagers, etc. d.

The full list of dual-use goods is published in the appendix to the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 86 of January 28, 2004.
