Sotheby's Vice President Michael Buanna said that this year has been successful for the auction house – digital art sales have reached almost $35 million.

“2023 for Sotheby’s will continue to be one of the brightest years in the field of digital art! What have we achieved? Sales amounted to about $35 million,” said Michael Buanna.

He recalled that in 2023, Sotheby's organized the first specialized auction, which was attended by more than 300 people and brought the company $12 million.
Sotheby's also managed to update the price record in the digital segment – $6. 2 million for NFT Ringers #879 by artist Dmitry Chernyak.
Bouanna also recalled that in 2023, 99-year-old Vera Molnar, one of the first artists to use computers for art, sold at auction at Sotheby' ;s a collection of 500 NFTs called Themes and Variations.
“In the next year, we will focus on supporting creators and improving their strategies in the primary market,” added Buanna.
In In June of this year, an NFT called “Golden Goose” from the GRAILS collection of the bankrupt cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital was sold at Sotheby’s auction for $6.2 million.
