The European Union is preparing secondary sanctions against Russia

The European Union intends to introduce secondary sanctions against Russia in order to avoid gaps in the sanctions regime. This was announced by Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis at a joint briefing with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

< p>“We discussed the issues of sanctions. We will continue to isolate Russia economically and politically in order to increase pressure on it,” Dombrovskis said.

He also emphasized that the EU will work to strengthen steps so that Russia cannot circumvent sanctions, in particular , will introduce secondary sanctions so that there are no gaps in the sanctions regime.

It was previously reported that the UK had found more than 200 companies involved in circumventing sanctions by Russia.

Before this, Switzerland stated that is stepping up its efforts to combat companies and individuals using a neutral country to circumvent sanctions imposed on Russia.
