In 2024, Ukraine’s needs for financing the state budget deficit will remain significant. The country will need financing in the amount of about $42 billion. IMF Communications Director Julie Kozak said this at a briefing.

“According to our estimates, the country will need financing in the amount of about $42 billion, including official donor support in amounting to about $32 billion,” she said.

At the same time, she noted the importance of Ukraine’s donors and partners ensuring the fulfillment of their financial obligations and that Ukraine receives the financing necessary to maintain macroeconomic stability in the country.

Kazak recalled that in December the IMF completed the second review of Ukraine’s EFF, which made it possible to pay about $900 million and bring the total volume of payments to Ukraine under the program to $4.5 billion.

“The government has achieved very significant progress in fulfilling its obligations under the EFF (Extended Funding Facility program – ed.) in difficult conditions. Within the framework of the program, all goals were achieved, and very good progress was also made on the structural front,” she added.

In 2023, Ukraine received $42.5 billion in international assistance in in the form of grants and loans.
