According to him, Timashev and Baronov went through this procedure at the Russian Embassy in Cyprus and now the businessmen have only Cypriot citizenship left. The entrepreneurs themselves have been living abroad for a long time: Baronov in Switzerland, and Timashev in the USA.

Baronov announced about submitting documents to renounce Russian citizenship last year on his account on the social network LinkedIn, said a source close to Veeam.

“I am a private citizen and never make public comments, especially about politics. I am making a rare exception because I am deeply shocked by the Russian war in Ukraine. “I have officially submitted all the documents necessary to renounce Russian citizenship,” Baronov noted.

He also added that he donated millions of dollars to reputable humanitarian organizations that helped “displaced Ukrainians on the territory of Ukraine.” Officially, the entrepreneur ceased to be a Russian citizen in December.

In turn, Ratmir Timashev renounced Russian citizenship in January 2024, evidence of which was reviewed by Forbes. This was also confirmed by Timashev himself.

Baronov and Timashev became the eighth and ninth businessmen from among the current and former members of the Forbes list who have renounced Russian citizenship since the beginning of 2022.
