Zheleznyak reported this information in an interview with the Ukrainskaya Pravda publication, URA-Inform reports.
According to him, the country's budget for military needs for 2024 is UAH 1.6 trillion, which is a decrease compared to the previous year, when UAH 1.9 trillion was allocated. Zheleznyak emphasized that existing finances are not enough to meet the current needs of the army.
«Increasing personnel by 500 thousand people will require an additional 580 billion UAH, and, unfortunately, it seems impossible to find such means. There is no longer enough money», — he said.
The people's deputy also recalled that Ukraine finances its military expenses mainly independently, with the exception of a small tranche from Norway.
Thus, the lack of finance poses the country faces serious challenges in ensuring security and maintaining the army at the proper level.
