Adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said when Ukraine should start negotiations with the Russian Federation.
«What should we talk to them about now as part of negotiations in a position where they have not received tactical, significant defeats on the battlefield? That we are ready to give them time so that they can objectively prepare for the next stage of the war?», — he noted.
Podolyak emphasized that «as long as the vertical of Putin’s subject exists», the goal of the Russian Federation remains unchanged— total destruction of Ukraine, Ukrainian statehood, citizens of Ukraine.
He added that negotiations are still possible if, simultaneously with the above, Russia voluntarily renounces nuclear weapons, or in the event that the Russian Federation suffers a global defeat. At the same time, the official noted that this may be preceded by three important processes.
«First — tactical defeat of Russia in Ukraine. Second — effective operation of sanctions when European companies finally leave the markets of the Russian Federation. And the third component — when in Russia, based on all this, the processes that we saw in the summer of 2023 begin», — he added.
