The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center said that this February will not be the same as usual. In half of the regions, the last month of winter will be warmer than normal, in half of the regions — close to normal.
Residents of the South and East, as well as residents of the Kirovograd, Dnepropetrovsk regions and Crimea will freeze less. According to Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Anatoly Prokopenko, severe frosts in February are unlikely.
However, it is possible that due to the periodic arrival of Arctic air, the temperature may drop noticeably for several days.
“In February, the average daily temperature passes through 0 degrees upward. In the south of the Odessa region, in Crimea and in places in Transcarpathia, this may happen in the first ten days, in the southern regions — in the second, in the western, in places in the Rivne, Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions — in the third decade. In other areas — in the beginning of March. Precipitation — it’s mostly wet snow and rain, that is, the new snow won’t stay for long, it will melt,” — explained Anatoly Prokopenko.
At the same time, the forecaster also added that this year winter will be one day longer only calendar-wise. And this does not affect either the amount of snow or the air temperature.
