Surgeon Sergei Chubchenko warned that if you suspect venous thrombosis, you should definitely consult a doctor. If a large blood clot penetrates the bloodstream into the lungs and clogs the pulmonary artery, this can lead to tragic consequences.
The expert reported how to determine the presence of a blood clot in the body:
«The appearance of a blood clot in the veins — this is an acute condition. It can manifest itself in a variety of ways, from swelling of the limb and bursting pain to the complete absence of any complaints.
According to him, usually the complaints of patients vary depending on the location of the blood clot, duration of the process.
«The main symptom of deep vein thrombosis is pain in the leg, namely — in the area of the calf muscle. When a blood clot forms in the deep veins of the lower extremities, the skin may acquire a reddish or bluish tint», — the specialist explained.
The doctor added that thrombosis is always preceded by certain disorders. He noted that if there are varicose veins in the legs, this increases the likelihood of thrombosis.
«If there are varicose veins, you should pay attention to the seals in the veins. Seals may indicate that blood clots have already formed in the veins», — the doctor noted.
