All clouds are made of water, but in a special state. The process of this liquid turning into clouds is called condensation. In general, the size of one cloud can reach 10 cubic meters, and the weight of 1 cubic meter can be 500 tons. It turns out that the mass of the entire cloud can be 5,000 tons, but there are also thunderstorm fronts weighing hundreds and millions of tons.
So why don’t clouds, if they are so heavy, fall to Earth?
This is explained by the fact that the cloud itself consists of small drops of water located at a great distance from each other. Between these drops — rarefied environment. Because they are small, the drops are less affected by gravity than they are on us. In addition, dry air and warm currents prevent water from falling.
