Ukrainians for the first time destroyed the Russian strategic bomber Tu-22M3, which took part in another strike on Ukraine.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, told still unknown details about the operation to destroy the Russian bomber. According to him, Ukrainian soldiers waited in ambush for a week before «landing» Russian Tu-22M3.
«It was a week, let’s say, the «ambush» itself. We were waiting for him to reach the desired milestone», — he explained.
In addition, according to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, the plane was hit at a distance of 308 kilometers, and to destroy it they used the same techniques and the same means that we used, when the A-50» plane was destroyed in the air.
At the same time, Budanov noted that “this is the first downing of a long-range aircraft in this war,” which “will make Odessa a little easier now.” However, it is too early to relax, because the Russians still have aircraft of this type.
In addition, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that previously the air defense forces could not intercept the Soviet powerful and high-speed X-22 missile. Its accuracy was «not that great», since it is an old design.
«Most of the civilian buildings were destroyed by these missiles», — clarified the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
At the same time, Budanov emphasized that now the Russian occupiers will have to find new launch boundaries for the X-22 and to launch missiles in Odessa they will be able to use only ground-based systems, as well as missiles from long-range aviation and sea.
