On Thursday, July 11, as part of the 75th summit of the North Atlantic Alliance in Washington, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with President of the United States of America Joseph Biden.

The Office of the President of Ukraine reported that at the beginning of the meeting, Joseph Biden announced a new defense package for Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader, in turn, thanked America for its support.
«I am grateful to you, your team, your administration, Congress—both parties, both houses—and the entire American people for your vital and powerful support of the people of Ukraine. “Together we are saving the lives of our people,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky also emphasized that assistance from the United States allowed Ukrainian defenders to stop the Russian offensive in the Kharkov region. He also noted US support for our country's energy system. In addition, the President of Ukraine emphasized the importance of combating Russian guided bombs.
«We need quick steps to lift all restrictions on our military» , — he noted.
During the negotiations, the leaders also discussed the restoration of a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
«For peace to return as soon as possible, we need a second Peace Summit this year. We very much count on America's support in this matter,— Zelensky said.
At the same time, Biden noted that Ukraine had stopped the Russian advance in the Kharkiv region and inflicted significant losses on them.
«You made it clear that Russia will not win in Ukraine. Ukraine will win. And I want you to know that we will be with you every step of the way,— he added.
The American leader noted that the defense package announced today is already the eighth one that he has agreed upon after signing the national security law.
«And we are working with our NATO allies to ensure that Ukraine receives F-16 aircraft this summer, and we will show the world that we are with Ukraine now and in the future,» Biden said.
