Ukrzaliznytsia has started selling tickets for the first children's compartment carriage in the company's history.
This information was reported by the company's press service, URA-Inform reports.
It will run as part of train #15/16 Kharkov-Yasinya from August 8. According to the company's press service, this carriage is equipped so that small passengers from 0 to eight years old and their parents will feel comfortable, safe and interested on the way.
The children's carriage was designed on the initiative of Ukrzaliznytsia in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and with the financial support of the Government of Belgium, the report says.
At the same time, the head of the board of “Ukrzaliznytsia” Evgeniy Lyashchenko emphasized that the company is systematically moving towards the goal of becoming the most child-friendly railway in Europe. According to him, this unique carriage was modernized in Ukraine – at the Kiev Electric Car Repair Plant. By the end of this year, the company plans to launch seven more such carriages. Children's zones for the children's carriage were also organized at six railway stations in the country.
It is noted that during the modernization, the carriage received a number of modern solutions that should make the trip of parents with children more comfortable, because it has everything you need – from playpens to changing tables in the toilet. Thus, the work on the modernization of this carriage lasted about six months, and already on Thursday, August 8, it will go on its first trip along a symbolic route that unites the East and West of Ukraine and will regularly transport groups of children from the Kharkiv region to rest in the Carpathian Mountains.
Tickets for the children's carriage are available for purchase exclusively through the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application, the cost of the ticket is similar to the cost of compartment tickets of the same class on the same train. The carriage is marked “Children's” in the application, so that parents traveling with small children could choose to travel in this particular carriage.
«Children up to and including 5 years old travel on Ukrzaliznytsia trains free of charge and do not need a separate ticket,— the company's press service added.
