Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, deputy from “Servant of the People” Nikita Poturaev stated that our country does not have the resources to regulate the work of the Telegram messenger.
This information was reported by RBC, reports “URA-Inform”.
He noted that due to threats to Ukraine and direct connections with the Russian Federation, it must be closed in the same way as “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”.
“There are no resources for regulation. And there won't be. And there is no opportunity and there won't be, because it's not under our jurisdiction. This applies to any social networks. What will happen if we don't pay attention to these threats — there will be no Ukraine. Therefore, we can't talk about any information hygiene,” the official said in a statement.
Poturaev emphasized that the only reaction, given the lack of resources and opportunities to regulate Telegram in Ukraine, is to shut it down, like the Russian social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
According to the MP, Ukraine has the appropriate technical capabilities to stop the application from working on its territory. The official sees a solution to the problem in writing a bill, the essence of which will be that “either networks or platforms establish a dialogue with the Ukrainian state, or the state simply closes them.”
Recall that earlier it was reported that the fake “Reserve+”: Russians have come up with a new way to collect personal data of Ukrainians.
