The new head of the French government Michel Barnier promised to support Ukraine in the war with the Russian Federation.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Barnier's statement in his programmatic speech in the National Assembly.
He stated that Ukrainians defend common values with the people of France, so Paris will remain on Kiev's side.
“France will remain on the side of the Ukrainian people,” – Barnier emphasized from the parliamentary rostrum, taking a pause, because his words were accompanied by applause in the hall.
The politician emphasized that the Ukrainians are waging a fair and courageous struggle.
“These are people (Ukrainians, ed.) who, two and a half years after the start of the aggressive war, continue to fight and “They are dying to defend their freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity. We must understand that they are fighting to defend values that are ours, that we share with them,” — Michel Barnier said.
The French Prime Minister also stressed that his country will direct efforts to establish peace in all corners where conflicts continue.
