Dementia is a complex of symptoms in which the brain is damaged under the influence of various diseases, and with age the likelihood of its development increases. There is no treatment for this yet, but maintaining water balance, according to experts, helps to minimize the risk.
According to doctors, to reduce the risk of dementia it is important to drink daily about 6-8 glasses of liquid, including skim milk and unsweetened beverages.
In addition to drinking enough water, experts emphasize the importance of a healthy diet: eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day and include protein foods in your diet — for example, fatty fish, eggs, meat or legumes at least twice a week.
Limiting sugar and salt is also important for brain health. Experts also recommend doing sports for at least 150 minutes a week, since regular physical activity reduces the risk of not only dementia, but also heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer.
