Russian occupiers for last week captured more territory in the East of Ukraine than in any period of 2024.

Bloomberg journalists noted that more than 200 square kilometers have been added to the territory captured during the summer Russian offensive. According to Bloomberg Intelligence calculations based on changes recorded by the DeepState analytical project, since August 6, the Russians have occupied 1,146 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. This is about a quarter more than in the first seven months of the year.

An unnamed source told the media that there is a growing sense of despondency among officials about the war. At the same time, NATO allies see no signs that Russia is interested in negotiations to end the war.

«If these cities fall into Putin's hands, this will be another milestone on his path to seizing the entire industrial east of Ukraine», — journalists noted.
Alex Kokcharov, an analyst of geoeconomics of Russia and Eastern Europe, believes that the advance of the Russians over the past three months is likely the result of the numerical advantage of troops and their dominance in the use of artillery. However, according to him, local Russian successes do not indicate a turning point in the war.
Recall that earlier it was reported how events in Ukraine could develop after the US elections: the BBC named three scenarios.
