On Tuesday, November 5, the United States of America will hold presidential elections.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to AP.
Preliminary polls show approximately equal chances for the main candidates. The results in several “shaky” states will be decisive. Kamala Harris from the Democrats and Donald Trump from the Republicans are fighting for victory in the US elections.
In recent months, they have been actively campaigning, trying to win over undecided voters. Polls show that their ratings remain equal within the margin of statistical error. This situation is developing both in the country as a whole and in key “shaky” states.
According to preliminary estimates, Harris is ahead of Trump by four percentage points – 51% to 47%. However, analysts call this advantage rather conditional. The results of the vote may become known on the night of November 6, at 08:00 Kyiv time.
Preparing for possible unrest
More than 20 US states are ready to send National Guard troops to Washington if necessary, in particular due to possible riots or attempts to seize the Capitol after the US presidential election.
Journalists from the AP publication noted that representatives of the National Guard in two dozen states have expressed readiness to send their units to Washington if there is a need and an official request in the coming weeks after the presidential election and before the inauguration.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Colonel Jean-Paul Lorenzo, head of the National Guard Bureau's Future Operations Division, said: said it is not yet known how many National Guard troops would be needed if needed.
He added that it would depend on the needs of the District of Columbia, but stressed that the National Guard Bureau and states are already preparing for a possible request for support.
Earlier it became known that 75 million people voted early in the US: what is already known.
