Christmas is special time, but this year its cost for Ukrainian families has increased significantly.

The average cost of a holiday table will be 1365 UAH, which is 40% more than the previous year. Experts attribute this to the rise in prices for the main ingredients of traditional dishes, as well as inflation in the country.
The following traditional dishes make the greatest contribution to the growth in costs , such as kutia, fried fish and Lenten borscht.
The cost of the products needed to prepare them has increased due to difficulties in supply chains and increased demand for agricultural products. For example, the prices of honey, nuts and poppy seeds, which are the key ingredients of kutia, have increased by more than 50%.
However, despite the rise in prices, many Ukrainians are trying to preserve traditions and prepare a full Christmas table. Some families are choosing alternative recipes or using more affordable ingredients to cut costs. Economists predict that the trend of increasing holiday meal costs will continue if inflation continues to rise and energy prices remain high.
