Politico analysts believe that Narva, a city located between Estonia and Russia, could become “the place where World War III begins.”

The journalists suggested that the Kremlin was seeking to seize it and the territory around it. They noted that Narva, squeezed along Estonia's border with Russia, “has been at the center of efforts to counter Moscow's constant provocations” – from jamming satellite navigation to stolen border demarcation buoys, propaganda, surveillance drones and buzzing airships.
“We do not intend to start World War III, but we see constant attempts to provoke us to do something that would have a greater impact,” said Egert Belitsev, Director General of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
The concern is that “the Kremlin could play the same card and try to seize eastern Estonia with its large ethnic Russian population.”
“And then force NATO to start a global war in response. The lack of a reaction will show that NATO's Article 5 on mutual defense is meaningless,” – this is how journalists describe the Kremlin's possible plan of action.
They consider such a scenario quite likely, since Russia has already partially tested it in Ukraine. And although this is not NATO territory, provocations still occur in the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, and the reaction to such provocative actions is frankly weak, which encourages the Kremlin to repeat and increase efforts in the same spirit.
