The European Union is considering the possibility of participating in a potential UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

The head of the EU Military Committee Robert Briger stated , that such a mission could include troops not only from the EU, but also from countries of the “global South” or the Caucasus. A peacekeeping operation under the auspices of the UN would be a significant step toward stabilizing the region, the general emphasized.

However, as Briger noted, creating a demilitarized zone along the front line would require a military presence numbering in the tens of thousands. The general noted that such plans remain only theoretical for now. Their implementation will require significant efforts from the international community and coordination between the participants.
