At a White House briefing, Trump noted that ending the conflict was his priority, stressing that the war should not have started if he were president.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Donald Trump.
US President Donald Trump said that he is conducting “very serious negotiations” with Russia regarding ending the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the Republican did not disclose details of the negotiations with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
“We're going to talk, and I think we're going to do something really important. We want to end this war, which would never have started if I were president. We want to stop it, because it's a terrible war,” the US president said in a statement.
He added that millions of young people, mostly soldiers, are dying at the front. Trump also mentioned the massive destruction of cities and villages due to the fighting.
“Many cities are badly damaged, they look like demolition sites. Meanwhile, the military is just shooting at each other. This is very flat terrain, and the only thing that can stop a bullet is a human body, soldiers from both armies,” the US President emphasized.
The head of the White House also said that “Russia has probably lost about 800,000 troops, and Ukraine has 600,000 or 700,000” and added that “this is a senseless situation and it needs to stop.”
“Given these facts, I am ready to do everything to stop this. And I am already negotiating to stop this war. I don’t want to give away the details, but we are already in very serious negotiations with Russia to end this war,” Donald Trump summed up.
Recall that earlier it was reported that Zelensky announced important negotiations: “We need meetings and strong decisions.”
