Doctors working in New York hospices conducted an unusual study to find out what patients dream about when they realize their death is near.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ua-novosti.

The news of an imminent death is a serious shock to the psyche, and not everyone is able to cope with such a blow or maintain faith in the best.

In China, there is a practice whereby doctors do not tell patients about their diagnosis, preferring to reveal the truth only to family members. Relatives themselves then decide whether to tell the patient. Studies show that patients who know about their condition live longer. Perhaps new data on dreams helps to understand why this happens.

Doctors asked patients what dreams they had. It turned out that people start having similar dreams about four months before death. Half of those surveyed reported dreams in which they were traveling by train, plane, or other means of transport. They were often accompanied by deceased relatives or close friends. Some patients said goodbye to family and familiar places in their dreams. About a month before death, dreams become especially vivid and realistic.

It is noteworthy that deceased relatives try to calm the dying in their dreams. They say that there is nothing to be afraid of and that their “journey will be safe.” These words give the sick a sense of peace. Interestingly, dying children see completely different dreams. In their visions, strangers and animals often appear, but not deceased relatives.

Experts believe that such dreams can be a form of self-psychotherapy. Symbols that appear in visions help people accept the inevitable and get rid of fear. Little patients remember their dreams with warmth: they evoke positive emotions and give a feeling of calm.

Let us recall that earlier it was reported about what sheep dream about: interpretation of the symbol according to dream books and what you should pay attention to.
