How do Ukrainians bypass card transfer limits and what restrictions are expected from June?

Since February 2025, Ukraine has had a limit on card transfers – no more than 150 thousand hryvnia per month for funds without confirmed origin. From June 1, the limit will be reduced to 100 thousand hryvnia, which has already affected the behavior of bank clients. Many have begun to look for ways to circumvent the new rules, and financial institutions are analyzing the changes and giving recommendations for adaptation.

This was reported by URA-Inform, citing UNIAN.

Banks are recording a decrease in transfer volumes by 18% and the number of transactions by 12%. However, by mid-February, the situation began to stabilize. Popular ways to bypass limits are opening accounts in different banks and transfers via IBAN. Some clients have become more conscious about financial transactions in order to avoid risks.

From June 1, restrictions will be tightened: the limit for low- and medium-risk clients will be reduced to 100 thousand hryvnia per month, while for high-risk clients it will remain at 50 thousand. To avoid inconvenience, banks recommend:

  1. Prepare documents confirming income (certificates, tax returns, payroll statements, etc.).
  2. Optimize the number of accounts and close unused ones.
  3. Set up automatic payments for recurring expenses.
  4. Use digital payment tools.

Banks are also ready to advise users on changes.
