The Ukrainian Ministry of Justice is considering the possibility of introducing an “online divorce” service, which will allow spouses to officially dissolve their marriage via video conference.
This was reported by URA-Inform, with reference to Ukrinform.
According to the head of the Central Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice, Kirill Minenko, an analysis of the demand for such a service among citizens is currently being conducted.
“If people really need it, for example, in cases where spouses have not lived together for a long time, then why not simplify the procedure?” he noted.
The country already has the option of concluding a marriage online, and the popularity of this service is growing. Since its launch, more than 18 thousand couples have used it. Minenko emphasized that it is especially useful for those who are abroad or doing military service.
As for divorce, the possible introduction of video conferencing will simplify the procedure for people who, for various reasons, cannot come to the registry office in person. However, for now this is just an idea, and the Ministry of Justice is studying the need for its implementation.
Let us recall that the “Contract 18-24” program has begun to produce results: the first payments have been made.
