ISW reported this information, reports URA-Inform.

According to the plan of the Russian authorities, they are trying to present the military actions in Ukraine as something more – as an existential geopolitical confrontation with the West. Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made a statement in which he stated that Napoleon, Hitler and now the United States are using a new method of «attack on the Russian Federation».

He quoted the words of the Reich Commissioner for Ukraine during the Second World War, Erik Koch, who predicted that Germany would exploit Ukraine, considering its population as a resource for solving military problems. Lavrov claims that the current West is waging its own «war» against Russia through Ukraine, just as the Nazis did during World War II.

This new emphasis in the Kremlin's assessment of the situation has attracted the attention of analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, since Lavrov first proposed such an approach, citing Nazi ideology . They do not rule out that the Kremlin came to the conclusion that the version of the Russian Federation’s struggle against Western «Nazism» will be more effective than Putin's statements to address the topic of «original Russian territories».

Perhaps the Russian authorities are trying to move away from the idea of a «Russian world», given that the multinational nature of the Russian Federation, and the theme of «original Russian territories» does not find adequate support even within the country. The Kremlin is probably considering the tactic of «accusation of Nazism» as a more effective tool for influencing international audiences, especially those who do not support the United States and the West.

We recall that it was previously reported that 2024 will be a difficult year for Ukraine: the head of the CIA warned what Putin’s plans are.
