President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping expressed hope for the possibility of holding new peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to the end 2024.

Donpress reported this, reports URA-Inform.

The above information was made public by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a letter addressed to the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the leaders of the European Union, after his visits to Ukraine, Russia and China.

According to Orbán, Vladimir Putin supports the relevance of the proposals, formulated by Russia in the spring of 2022. According to these proposals, Crimea should remain under Russian administration without formal recognition from Ukraine.

The plan also included Kiev renouncing NATO membership, setting limits on the size and capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces, as well as providing security guarantees from Western countries to neutralize Ukraine in the event of armed aggression.

Orban noted that both Putin and Xi Jinping are confident in the possibility of holding new peace negotiations before the end of this year. The Hungarian Prime Minister also said that Putin did not mention Russian losses at the front, but expressed concern about Ukrainian losses, which he estimates range from 40 to 50 thousand people monthly.

Prospects for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine until the end of 2024 are optimistic, but require a serious approach and constructive action on the part of all participants. The success of efforts to achieve peace in the region depends on the willingness of the parties to compromise and support from the international community.

Let us recall whether the Russian Federation is capable of launching a large-scale offensive in Ukraine: an explanation from a NATO official.
