The Miami forum has become a platform for the bank to build dialogue with foreign financial institutions, payment companies and technology partners
Sibos 2026, one of the leading international forums of the financial industry, is taking place in Miami, uniting banks, payment companies, fintech firms and financial infrastructure representatives worldwide. Octobank, here for the third straight year, is presenting its solutions and international capabilities along with the broader story of Uzbekistan’s financial market transformation.
The bank is represented by its own 48 sq. m stand with exhibition and negotiation areas. The emphasis is on direct engagement with international financial institutions and on cooperation in correspondent banking, cross-border payments, clearing, foreign exchange operations, liquidity management and trade finance.
At the center of Octobank’s international communication is the concept:
“Uzbekistan — the New Silk Road of Digital Finance”
Historically, the Silk Road brought countries and markets together through trade. Today this role increasingly belongs to financial infrastructure, payment networks, technology and direct relationships between financial institutions. At Sibos, Octobank moves this idea from positioning to practical dialogue.
“Participation in SIBOS allows us to discuss cooperation directly with international partners. We see reciprocal interest in working with Octobank and are ready to respond to it with concrete proposals — digital solutions, expertise and experience in working with business. We expect that the dialogue started here will soon continue in joint projects,” commented Hamid Jumaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Octobank.
Uzbekistan on the Global Financial Map
The bank’s participation comes as Uzbekistan’s economy undergoes major change: growing trade, the digital economy and cross-border business demand more from banking infrastructure. Local companies need broader access to international settlements, foreign exchange operations and payment instruments, while foreign institutions seek reliable partners in the local market. As of September 2026, Octobank’s assets total about USD 1.66 billion, its clients number more than 4.9 million, and its international network includes 19 correspondent banks and cooperation with over 30 financial institutions. Expanding settlements in US dollars, euros and Chinese yuan is among its priorities. Sibos is thus about the infrastructure for Uzbekistan’s integration into global finance, not only the brand.
From Exhibition to Concrete Business Relationships
The stand is designed to combine business and image-building. Its meeting zone hosts talks with international banks, payment organizations and technology companies on areas from correspondent relationships and clearing to cross-border payments and foreign exchange operations. The open area presents modern Uzbekistan as much as Octobank: national motifs, traditional Uzbek sweets and souvenirs make a first meeting with the bank an introduction to the country and its culture. The sequence: Uzbekistan’s opportunities first, then the bank’s role in its financial system, then business talks.
Central Asia’s New Financial Routes
For years, Central Asia was seen chiefly as a region of remittances and commodity trade. That is changing: e-commerce, foreign trade, new tech companies and the international activity of local businesses require more complex infrastructure, including direct interbank relationships, international clearing, foreign exchange operations, digital payments and services for companies active in several markets. Uzbekistan can thus gradually gain a more prominent place in financial flows between Central Asia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Octobank sees banking relationships as a tool for this, so at Sibos it aims to build working connections within the system, not just to appear among its biggest players.
Sibos as the Beginning of Further Cooperation
Sibos 2026 unites over 10,000 participants from more than 160 countries in Miami to discuss digital finance, artificial intelligence, cross-border payments and the future of global financial infrastructure. For Octobank, the key outcome is not stand traffic or brand mentions, but dialogue that continues after the forum. The bank intends to turn the Miami negotiations into further work with financial institutions, payment companies and technology partners, making Sibos part of its long-term international strategy. The idea is to create practical connections that confirm Uzbekistan’s transformation: the historical Silk Road connected countries through trade, while the modern one is increasingly formed by payments, technology and financial infrastructure.
