A former policeman from Izyum was sentenced to 15 years for treason

The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Kharkov recognized the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Kharkov as confiscating the property of a former policeman from Izyum , who worked for the Russian occupation forces.

Ukrinform reports this.

The verdict of 35-year-old Alexander Solovy was announced by the panel of judges on February 5. He was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (Treason under martial law).

The convict was also deprived of the special rank of “senior police lieutenant.”

According to the case materials, the policeman assumed the position of “district police inspector” in the illegally created occupation “police department of the Kharkov region”, he was on duty as part of investigative and operational teams, kept materials from the unified accounting journals, and ensured public order for the occupation authorities. Subsequently, he became the “senior district police officer” for juvenile affairs.

“In addition, the traitor agitated his colleagues to swear allegiance to the aggressor state and work in a pseudo-law enforcement agency,” the prosecutor’s office noted.

The prosecution insisted on life imprisonment. Will the prosecutor's office file an appeal against the verdict after they have read the full text of the court's decision? The parties have a month to file appeals.

The accused refused to comment.

After Izyum was fired, the man went into hiding. In October 2022, he stepped on a Russian anti-personnel mine and suffered a traumatic foot amputation. After treatment, law enforcement officers detained him.

Previously it was also reported that almost 20 law enforcement officers from Mariupol are suspected of treason.
