Polish farmers have started to block traffic near another checkpoint – “Korcheva – Krakovets”.
This was reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The protest action started at about 14.00 on February 13. .
According to information from Polish border guards, picketers intend to block the movement of trucks heading to Ukraine for an hour. There will be no blocking of passenger transport.
- According to the State Customs Service, in addition to Korcheva-Krakovets, 5 more are blocked checkpoints, including “Dorogusk-Yagodin”, “Zosin-Ustilug”, “Grebnoye-Rava Russkaya”, “Dolgobychuv-Ugrinov”. The Sheginya-Medica emergency was partially blocked.
- Polish farmers resumed blocking after the European Commission recommended extending the “economic visa-free regime” with Ukraine for another year. Liberalization began in 2022 as a measure to support the Ukrainian economy during a full-scale war. However, due to protests from local farmers who do not like the fact that Ukrainian grain was imported into the EU under relaxed rules, the European Commission decided to allow certain measures. For the most sensitive products – poultry, eggs and sugar – an emergency brake has been introduced, stabilizing imports at the level of average import volumes in 2022 and 2023. This means that if imports of these products exceed these volumes, tariffs will be re-imposed to ensure that volumes do not significantly exceed indicators of previous years.
