ISW: the Russian government hid data on social support recipients, probably to hide losses in the photo: the corpse of the occupier <p>American Institute The Study of War (ISW) reports that the Russian government withheld data on recipients of social assistance services in 2022, likely to hide losses in the first year of the war in Ukraine, or to cover up the government's failure to pay promised social assistance to vulnerable populations.</p> <p>ISW used an investigation by the Russian opposition publication “Verstka”, which analyzed data from the Unified State Information System for Social Protection (USISSS) of the Russian Federation and on March 4 reported that the USISSS hid data on recipients of social payments in 2022. </p> <p>The publication noted that some of the hidden data contains information that can reveal the scale of losses in Ukraine, for example, indicators about “widows of military personnel who died during military service” and “citizens who were wounded, shell-shocked, injured and injury in the performance of military service duties.” </p> <p>It is noted that Russian authorities likely hid this information to prevent social unrest surrounding reports of Russian casualties in Ukraine, and decided to share this information only for 2023 and 2024, when the Kremlin line regarding the loss Russia has consolidated somewhat to eliminate social shocks. </p> <p>The Kremlin also likely withheld social service data for 2022 to hide problems with the provision of promised social support measures to various people, especially those who suffered during the first year of the war.</p> <p><!--noindex--></p> <p><a rel=lb.ua
