German Finance Minister Christian Lindner in an interview with the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper said that those who are tired of supporting Ukraine should think about the consequences for Europe, DW reports.
“Our peace and our freedom are under threat. Putin is not only concerned about Ukraine, he wants to change the world order and the structure of freedom in Europe,” Lindner said.
Putin would like to “control the way of life and civil liberties” in Europe, he said, and those who consider supporting Ukraine “too tedious or too expensive” should consider such consequences.
Christian Lindner opposes the idea of a “war freeze”, as some politicians propose.
“For Ukraine, we are talking about existence as a state. And for the people there, most often it is about survival. It is impossible to freeze such a situation,” he noted.
Remember, recently German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock said that Putin wants to destroy Ukraine and drag NATO into war. She is confident that her country, together with its allies, will not allow the aggressor to win.
