Parents of newborns must confirm Russian citizenship.
Russians in the temporarily occupied Lugansk region must prove that they have Russian citizenship. Such actions are a violation of the article of the Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide.
This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Chairman of the Lugansk Regional Military Administration Artem Lysogor said that from May 6, mothers, who give birth in hospitals in the occupied Luhansk region will have to confirm the citizenship of the Russian Federation for at least one parent of the newborns in order to be discharged from the hospital.
ISW analysts note that if this report is true, then such actions violate Article II (d) of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which defines genocide as “the introduction of measures designed to prevent births in a group.”
“Russian occupation officials continue their efforts to militarize and indoctrinate Ukrainian youth in the occupied territory of Ukraine. The “LPR” announced on May 1 that they are developing a new textbook that sets out the modern history of the occupied Lugansk region in accordance with Russian education standards,” it says ISW report.
