How Zelensky’s suit became the subject of jokes at the White House

Brian Glenn apologized to Zelensky for criticizing his suit, which became a topic of jokes during their meeting at the White House. Details of the August 18 meeting.

On August 18, during a meeting between state leaders at the White House, American journalist Brian Glenn, who had previously criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky for not wearing a suit, changed his stance. Instead of continuing his criticism, he praised the president for his new outfit. “President Zelensky, you look fantastic in this suit,” said the journalist before asking his question. Donald Trump immediately joked, saying, “I said the same thing,” pointing at Glenn. He also noted that this was the same journalist who had criticized Zelensky during their previous meeting, to which the Ukrainian president replied that he remembered it. “I apologize, you really do look great,” Glenn said, to which Zelensky responded, “And you’re in the same suit as before. I changed my suit, but you didn’t,” causing laughter among the attendees, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing the broadcast of the meeting.

It’s worth noting that before Zelensky’s visit to the U.S., the White House asked if the president would wear a suit to his meeting with Trump. Sources reported that Zelensky arrived at the White House in the same black jacket he wore at the NATO summit in the Netherlands in June. “It will be a suit-style look, but not a full suit,” one of the sources said. Meanwhile, the previous meeting in the Oval Office with Trump, where Zelensky was dressed in a military-style outfit, led to a diplomatic misunderstanding. Trump sarcastically remarked at the time, “He’s really dressed up today.”
