The Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv on July 24 chose a measure of restraint for the historical building. The suspect was given personal obligations.

The prosecutor demands that a preventive measure be chosen in the form of a personal obligation due to the risk of hiding the suspect Grechko from the pre-trial investigation authorities and the court. It is known that the accused already traveled abroad in 2023 using the “Path” system. region.
At the same time, the suspect’s defense insisted that the destroyed building did not belong to the cultural heritage monuments.
“We have a response from the Ministry of Culture that the object is not included in the register and the object does not belong to the cultural heritage site,” noted the lawyer of the suspect Grechko and handed over to the court copies of supporting documents, in particular from the Ministry of Culture.
< Mikhail Grechko himself does not admit his guilt in the criminal offense. He noted that the Zelensky estate had to have its external and internal appearance restored within the framework of the foundation.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of a personal obligation: he is required to come to the investigator, report a change in place of residence, refrain from communicating with witnesses and hand over his passports.

What is known about the case
- On July 19, the historical “house of Evmeniy Zelensky” was demolished in Kyiv. The Minister of Culture called it a “cynical violation of the law.”
- The destroyed estate was erected in the 19th century and was known as the Evmeniy Zelensky building. Visually, the building was in good condition, but they wanted to build a residential complex in its place, and it was also named after the Russian writer Turgenev – after the previous name of the street.
- The police and the prosecutor's office applied to the court three times to seize the land plot and building at the specified address. However, at the request of the lawyers of the house owners, the court overturned it. The last time, on January 18 and February 19, at the initiative of the police and the prosecutor's office, a new arrest was placed on the land plot and the house with a ban on any actions.
- Subsequently, the Office of the Prosecutor General began criminal proceedings in the case of the demolition of the Zelensky estate. Construction work was carried out there for a long time without the appropriate approval of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
- Kyiv police came with searches to the developer and owner of the demolished historical estate.
- Kyiv will sue the developer who demolished the historical estate on Konissky Street, 22. They will also sue the owners of the building. They will demand that the estate be restored to its original appearance.
