Military actions in Donetsk region, 147 combat clashes, enemy shelling. How will the 955th day of the full-scale war be remembered?
On Saturday, October 5, the media reported that the Defense Forces shot down a Russian Su-25 fighter jet near Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region. It later became known that the target was not an enemy fighter jet, but the newest Russian heavy aircraft S-70 “Okhotnik”, and it was the Russian fighter jet that shot it down.
Ukrainian volunteer Sergei Sternenko released footage of the wreckage of this heavy drone. It was shot down near the city of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region. Before the plane crashed, air-to-air missiles were seen in the sky; the new S-70 “Okhotnik” probably lost control and was shot down by a Russian fighter jet.
According to the military man, “the catching aircraft was flying on two jet engines that had fallen on one and had full tanks,” which explains the appearance of the aircraft along the front line and the hasty actions of the fighter.
Work on the Okhotnik program has been underway at the Russian Sukhoi Design Bureau since 2011. The drone is built using the “flying wing” design.
The device will be able to carry missiles and aerial bombs with a total weight of up to 2.8 tons in its internal compartments. Its length is 14 m, the wingspan is 19 m, and the takeoff weight of the drone is more than 20 tons. According to unconfirmed data, the flight range of the Russian device will be about six thousand kilometers.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that as of 22:00 on October 5, 147 combat clashes had occurred.
