Ukrainians who are in the way in the Czech Republic have made up the largest group of recruits who have signed up for the Ukrainian legion that is being formed in Poland, Radio Prague International reports.
Over the past month, the recruiting center in Lublin has been operating, more than half a thousand people have signed up for the legion.
In total, applications were submitted by citizens of Ukraine living in 30 countries of the world.
Among the numerous are requests from Ukrainians in Poland, the Czech Republic, and there are also requests from Britain, Ireland, Canada, and the United States.
The center is currently planning to organize field work in other diplomatic missions from time to time. Ukraine in Poland – in Wroclaw, Krakow, Gdansk, and Warsaw.
There is no talk yet of creating recruiting centers in other European countries. But such a prospect is not ruled out.
Earlier, the Czech Ministry of Defense said that the agency is currently assessing the Polish project from a practical and legal perspective in order to take into account the possibility of its involvement in the initiative.
