The visit was not announced in advance.
Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya has arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit.
“The diplomat came to Kyiv straight from an economic forum in Peru, “to demonstrate Tokyo's commitment to Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression, which now includes North Korean troops.”
The government official is scheduled to meet with his counterpart Andriy Sybiha on Saturday. A meeting between the Japanese official and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also likely.
- Takeshi Iwaya has been in office only a few weeks after Shigeru Ishiba became Prime Minister of Japan instead of Fumio Kishida.
- On November 12, the President of Ukraine received credentials from the new Japanese Ambassador to our country.
