Pistorius says Putin's invasion of Ukraine is no longer a regional war

The German Defense Minister noted that Russia produces as many weapons and ammunition in three months as the entire European Union produces in a year. He believes that large investments in Germany's “military readiness” are necessary.

<p>The German Defense Minister is convinced that Putin already considers himself the winner in the war against Ukraine and intends to continue fighting for a new world order, DW reports. </p>
<p>“Russian aggression against Ukraine has long ceased to be a regional war,” said Boris Pistorius.</p>
<p>According to him, Putin “has completely switched the country's economy to a war footing.” Russia produces so many weapons in three months and ammunition, as much as the entire European Union in a year.</p>
<p>Against the backdrop of the long-term threat from Moscow, Pistorius spoke of the need for greater investment in Germany's “military readiness.” </p>
<p>“Our security is a fragile good,” the minister emphasized.</p>
<p>Earlier, Pistorius said that he would not be the SPD's candidate for chancellor. He believes that Olaf Scholz is the right candidate for chancellor.</p>
