The number of attacks on the digital security of the Western neighbor has tripled in two years.
At a conference in Gliwice, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski said that Russia is no longer even trying to hide the conduct of a full-fledged cyber war against his country. According to TVN24, in 2024, Polish cybersecurity experts detected twice as many incidents related to the activities of Russian hackers. Compared to 2022, the number of attacks and attempts to interfere with systems has tripled.
According to Gawkowski, the attacks by Russians are targeted and attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure. This includes local government, whose security is of concern to cyber experts. The government has launched a program under which local councils can receive up to 850 thousand zlotys to improve their networks.
