The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that as of 22:00 on December 17, 183 combat clashes occurred.
In the Kursk region, the Defense Forces repelled 42 assaults by Russian invaders. Another 35 clashes occurred in the Pokrovsk direction.

Russian occupiers have significantly increased pressure on the Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Vremivsk directions, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky during an online speech at a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.
The enemy also became active in Kursk region, using North Koreans.
“As of December 17, the Defense Forces are conducting active combat operations on a front section with a total length of more than 1,170 km. The most difficult situation is now in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsky directions. For the third day, the enemy has been conducting intensive offensive operations in the Kursk region with the aim of driving out units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces from the territory of the Russian Federation. They are actively using units of the North Korean army. North Korean mercenaries have already suffered heavy losses,” Syrsky said.
The commander-in-chief added that the Ukrainian defenders “are steadily holding certain lines, destroying enemy personnel and equipment, for which I am grateful to the soldiers, sergeants and officers.”
NATO has taken over the coordination of Western military aid to Ukraine from the United States, Reuters reports.
The move comes after months of delays in aid and opens the door for NATO to play a more direct role in the war against Russia's invasion.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to work toward stronger ties and full membership in the Joint Expeditionary Force.
He made the remarks while addressing a summit of Expeditionary Force member countries.

Poland will allocate the 46th aid package to Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at a press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky in Lviv on December 17.
According to Tusk, the aid (around 100 million euros) will arrive in January next year. Poland and its partners will transfer some equipment. We cannot give everything.
