This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science in response to a request from the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

The Ministry of Education and Science also reported that this year no decision was made to revoke an academic degree. At the same time, it is noted that one person voluntarily renounced his academic degree – Bogdan Bazarnik. – the ministry noted.
“As for the four people in respect of whom the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education previously made a decision on the presence of academic plagiarism in their dissertations, and also submitted a submission to the Ministry of Education to deprive them of their academic degrees, the agency reported that none of them has been deprived of their academic degrees to date,” the Ministry of Education and Science added.
In particular, the Kyiv District Administrative Court recognized as unlawful and overturned the decision of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education to identify plagiarism in the dissertation of the former Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, First Vice-Rector of the National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic” Serhiy Shkarlet.
Also, the Vinnytsia District Administrative Court recognized as illegal and overturned the decision of the National Agency on establishing the facts of academic plagiarism in the dissertation of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Regional Development of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUBA) Roman Akselrod. Later, the Seventh Appellate Administrative Court upheld this decision.
The Poltava District Administrative Court recognized as illegal and overturned the decision of the National Agency for the detection of plagiarism in the dissertation of the ex-rector of the Yuriy Kondratyuk National University of Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
In addition, in October 2024, the Kyiv District Administrative Court opened proceedings on the case of the decision of the National Agency on the dissertation of the director of the Institute for the Modernization of the Content of Education (IMZO) Yevhen Bazhenkov.
- In 2022-2023, four people were deprived of their academic degrees in Ukraine, two voluntarily refused, and the decision to award academic degrees to 11 people was overturned.
- In 2022, a decision was made to grant 222 doctoral degrees and 447 candidate of science degrees. And in 2023 – 245 Doctor of Science degrees and 224 Candidate of Science degrees.
As reported, in 2023, the Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lesnoy renounced his academic degree. This became possible thanks to a new mechanism.
Following him, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Serhiy Babak officially renounced his academic degree as a Doctor of Technical Sciences.
