The explosions coincided with reports of a drone attack on the station's training center.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recorded loud explosions near Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya NPP (NPP). They coincided with reports of a drone attack on the plant's training center.
This was reported by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
The IAEA Support and Assistance Mission in Zaporizhia (ISAMZ) team reported that at approximately 12:45 and 15:45 January they heard two loud explosions and also repeatedly heard machine gun fire.
The reports note that there were no casualties and no damage to the NPP equipment.
The IAEA says that over the past 24 hours, the intensity of military action near Europe's largest NPP has increased.
- On December 10, Russia attacked an IAEA vehicle with a drone on its way to Zaporizhia NPP.
- And on December 20, the Zaporizhia NPP was again on the verge of a blackout due to enemy shelling. Then one of the two power lines went down.
