The administration of US President Joseph Biden has declassified information about how it supported the military drone industry in Ukraine, The New York Times reports.

On Thursday, January 16, U.S. officials said they had made major investments that helped Ukraine begin and expand production of UAVs. Much of the aid to the Ukrainian military, such as billions of dollars in missiles, air defense systems, tanks, artillery and training, has been publicly known. But other support has largely remained in the shadows.

The talk was about helping Kyiv develop a new generation of drones and revolutionizing the way wars are waged. In particular, in addition to technical support, the United States has spent significant funds, including $1.5 billion sent last September, to stimulate the production of drones in Ukraine.

Biden National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that this support had a “real strategic impact” on the course of the war.
